Our history
Historic engravings in China have depicted use of wheelchairs dating back to 525 A.D. Through the ages, handicapped people were shunned and in some societies considered useless. Perhaps this wretched belief had contributed to the fact that other than Herbert Everest and HC Jennings’ metal folding wheelchair, there has not been a significant improvement in the design of wheelchairs in the last 1,500 years. Although canes, crutches and walkers predate the use of wheelchairs; yet, their designs has improved even less, than that of the wheelchair.
Inventor Justin Frankian created the original version of this art in 1971 for a single elderly patient, who successfully used the device for several months before his passing. The original devise consisted of three wheels, and was used by the patient who had limited standing and walking ability, as a gate training and exercise devise within the limited area of his patio. The current patented version of this art consists of four wheels for better balance, less restriction, and more utility, to be used by patients of all ages.
Our mission
We put our ability where our heart is. We aim to do everything we can to help children who have Cerebral Palsy, Nemaline Myopathy (NM), Poliomyelitis, or any muscular and/or neurological conditions that limits their mobility, to have a full and active life. Currently we have 3 different models that can accommodate varieties of conditions, from mild disabilities to full paralysis. Each unit comes in 3 different sizes, suitable for very young children to elderly and obese adults. Although the purpose of these apparatus is to encourage and assist walking, medium and full size units can be equipped with small electric motor to help the patient when walk on an uphill street or moving up a ramp.
